Technology should adapt to you.
Not the other way around. Too often the pressure is on people — to learn a product’s logic, follow its steps, work around its limits. At Hectopascal Software, we put that pressure back where it belongs: on the software, and on us. We start from how people already think and the words they already use, and shape the technology around them.
How we work
- Stay out of the way.
-
Software should do its job quietly and let you get on with your day.
- Be honest.
-
Say what we know, admit what we don’t, and fix what we get wrong.
- Ask for less.
-
Only the data a feature needs, and a privacy policy short enough to actually read.
The name
hec·to·pas·cal
A unit of pressure equal to one hundred pascals, used on weather maps.
Air has weight. At sea level it presses on you at about 1013 hectopascals — roughly a kilogram on every square centimetre — and you never feel a thing.
The pascal is named after Blaise Pascal, who in 1642 began building one of the first mechanical calculators to lighten his father’s work as a tax official.
That is the idea behind the name: software you barely notice, that takes a little weight off.
